MONDAY MORNING APRIL 11th, 2022 THROUGH TO SATURDAY EVENING APRIL 23rd, 2022

The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the motoring public that the BELCO trenching project on Middle Road in Smith’s will require a full road closure to accommodate a crossover from the westbound lane into the BELCO substation from Harrington Sound Road junction coming up. The trench crossover will start on the evening of Friday April 8th, 2022 at 6:00 pm and will be completed by Monday morning April 11th at 7:00 am.

The section of Middle Road that will be closed will start from Harrington Sound Road junction to Fielders Lane. Once the crossover is completed, trenching works will also continue on Middle Road to tie into the completed trench near Fielders Lane with a single lane closure. The single lane closure will start on April 11th at 7:00 am continue until April 23rd, 2022.

Detour routes to avoid this closed road section will be North Shore Road either via Jennings Road or Store Hill. Only residential traffic will be allowed to enter up to Fielders Lane from the west. No access will be granted from the east.

Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO representatives and will be managed through traffic control barricades and detour signs.

The Ministry of Public Works would like to thank the public for their ongoing cooperation and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.

Should there be any questions regarding the BELCO trench works, contact Mr. Jonathan Pedro, Project Manager for BELCO on 295-5111 ext. 1441. Any queries on detours, contact Mrs. Tina Beer-Searle, Acting Principal Highways Engineer for the Ministry of Public Works on 501-3044.
