Importation restrictions for produce
High Risk Produce – Importation Restrictions
The following details relate to restrictions on the importation of produce via sea (boat, superyacht or cruise ship) or air (passenger or private aircraft):
Prohibited produce: Fresh produce which is prohibited entry based upon pest, disease or quarantine risk. Prohibited produce can enter Bermuda only if the produce is processed, i.e. cooked, frozen, dried or canned.
- Carrots (shredded to 1mm is acceptable)
- Corn
- Green/Water Coconut
- Guava
- Sweet Potato/ North American Yam
Regulated produce: Fresh produce which is regulated with treatments (hot water, fumigation, irradiation or from a pest/disease free area) prior to or upon entry into Bermuda to mitigate pest, disease or quarantine risk. Regulated produce is only released to the importer if it meets the Department of Environment and Natural Resources entry requirements.
- Asian/Exotic fruits (Rambutans, Lychee, Longan, etc.)
- Bananas
- Breadfruit
- Cherries
- Citrus (Lemon, Limes, etc.)
- Coconuts
- Dates
- Mangoes
- Non-commercially produced fruits and vegetables
- Soft tropical and sub-tropical fruit (such as papaya etc.)
- Pumpkins (and other cucurbits)
- Sorrel
- Stone fruits
- Sugarcane
- Taro and Cassava
- Turmeric and other roots/bulbs
