Updated - Air Traffic Control Service Suspension Impacts Flights to Bermuda
The Ministry of Tourism and Transport advises the public that due to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) New York Air Traffic Control Center temporarily suspending aircraft approach and departure control services, air traffic is presently unable to operate in Bermuda’s airspace.
This service, which is essential for flights to safely arrive and depart from Bermuda, has resulted in the cancellation of today’s Delta Air Lines and WestJet flights, departing for Bermuda from Atlanta and Toronto respectively, being cancelled.
It is expected Air Traffic Services will resume at 7:30 pm today. However, this is not certain and the Bermuda Airport Authority is coordinating with FAA for the latest updates.
It must be noted that Bermuda’s air traffic control services, provided by the Airport Authority, are 100% operational. However, in order for flights to depart for Bermuda, both services must be in operation.
Further updates will be provided as they are available.
