The Public is Invited to Nominate Winning Bermuda-Based Technologies
Today the Economic Development Department (EDD) launched the nominating period for its annual Technology Innovation Awards, also known as the Tech Awards. Since 2007, the EDD has taken great pride in recognising Bermuda-based companies and solutions that have significantly contributed to the technology industry locally and internationally.
Every year, the TechAwards celebrate the ingenuity of Bermudian and Bermuda-based creators and innovators who have demonstrated exceptional achievements within Bermuda’s technology industry.
This year again, the EDD is inviting the community to participate in this effort by nominating Bermudian companies, organisations, and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in developing innovative technology-based solutions, practices, and educational initiatives in Bermuda.
Nominations can be in any of the TechAwards categories: ‘International Market Innovation,’ ‘Local Market Innovation,’ ‘Most Innovative Youth Project,’ and ‘Most Innovative Mobile Application.’ The public is encouraged to submit nominations starting August 7th 2023. Details of each category and the nomination form can be found on www.techawards.bm.
The deadline for nominations is September 22nd, 2023. Each nomination will be evaluated by the TechAwards judging committee, comprised of leaders in Bermuda’s FinTech and technology sectors. The winning candidates in each category will be celebrated at a reception scheduled during the fifth annual Bermuda Tech Summit.
The Honourable Jason Hayward, JP, MP, Minister of Economy and Labour, shared his thoughts on the TechAwards, stating: “Bermudians have consistently demonstrated a wealth of talent, creativity, and innovation. The annual TechAwards provide a valuable platform to recognise and showcase Bermuda’s technological prowess and its inspiring future generation of innovators. We urge everyone to participate in the nomination exercise and look forward to celebrating innovation when the time comes.”
Mr Ray Jones, EDD Director, expressed his enthusiasm for the 2023 TechAwards: “As we look ahead, we continue to see opportunities for innovation and cause for celebration. I look forward to learning about Bermuda’s latest technology-based solutions later this summer.”
If you or someone you know has developed an innovative technological product or service, submit a nomination at www.techawards.bm before September 22nd.
