Programming Note - Conversations with Former Premiers

In an effort to capture some of the important aspects of Bermuda’s history, the Government advised that over the next few months, CITV will be airing a series of interviews with former Premiers of Bermuda.

Entitled Conversations with A Former Premier, the 45-minute show features three separate interviews with former Premiers Alex Scott, Sir John Swan, and Dr. Ewart Brown.

The interviews are being carried on CITV as part of its fall progamming line-up (see programme schedule below).

Conversations with A Former Premier, seeks to chronicle the former Premiers and their time in office, in their ow words. The first interview highlights Alex Scott, who was Premier of Bermuda from 2003 to 2006.

During his conversation, Mr. Scott discussed the events and issues he faced during his tenure, including Hurricane Fabian and the aftermath of the Category 3 storm that directly impacted Bermuda. Premier Scott also explains why he commissioned a report on independence published in 2005. He also addresses his formal introduction of Public Access to Information (PATI). These and other subjects are covered in the interview with host Heather Whalen, former Director of Community and Cultural Affairs.

Mrs. Whalen said, “The words that came to mind while interviewing Premier Scott were that he is a visionary, wise, respectful, and works collaboratively. A humble man of integrity with a sense of humour. His desire for all of us to work together as ‘one’ is palpable. As he stated in the interview, for all of us to succeed, each one of us must succeed.”

Members of the public can tune in daily through December 4th to view Conversations with A Former Premier, featuring Alex Scott at the following times: 9.30 am, 5.30 pm, and 8.00 pm.
