Minister Hayward Joins BTA for Joint Hotelier Stakeholder Meeting
Recently, the Minister of Economy & Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP, joined the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) for a joint hotelier stakeholder meeting hosted at Rosewood Bermuda.
This meeting is a follow-up to one held at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club in December 2021. It represents stakeholders' ongoing commitment to having an open dialogue about the hospitality industry's challenges and viable solutions.
The group discussed the industry's current state, hospitality education in the schools, solutions to attract more Bermudians to the industry, and how to go about revitalising Bermuda's tourism industry.
Minister Hayward stated, "I am pleased to continue these important stakeholder meetings that are geared toward working to grow our tourism industry which is vital to job creation and an important pillar of Bermuda's economy."
CEO Bermuda Tourism Authority, Charles H. Jeffers II, stated, "As an organisation we understand the challenges facing the island's tourism industry and are committed to working collaboratively with our stakeholders to turn the tide and realise the tremendous potential that exists. That's why we have joined forces to address the industry's most pressing concerns, build out a platform supporting the development of a quality hospitality workforce, and to lay the groundwork for the future as part of our plan to revitalise tourism."
The group has formed sub-committees to address various items discussed and will meet again later in the year.
