Bermuda Football Association World Cup Qualifiers

The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended the CONCACAF Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The match, held on 14th October 2025, saw Bermuda's Gombey Warriors compete with the Jamaican team. The Minister gave his support to the team and was accompanied by the Director of Sport and Recreation. 

While in Jamaica, Minister Darrell was invited to attend Jamaica's Parliament as a special guest with the Premier, the Hon E David Burt, JP MP as well as Member of Parliament, Mr. Chis Famous, JP MP. 

Wings Gala, Airline Executive Networking

The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture and Sport was invited to attend the Wings Gala held in New York on Friday, 17th October 2025. The Minister was accompanied by the Director of Sport and Recreation. 

Caribbean Tourism Organization Council of Ministers

The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended the Meeting of the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of Tourism held by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Minister was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Shivon Washington. 

Bermuda Football Association World Cup Qualifiers

The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended the CONCACAF Qualifiers Second Round for FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualification match between the host country, Curacao and Bermuda on 9 September 2025. The Minister was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Shivon Washington to support the Bermuda team on its journey in this qualifying round. 

Air Service Development with Jet Blue

The Hon Owen K Darrell, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended a meeting with executives from Jet Blue. The meeting took place during the Minister's stopover in New York, NY, (therefore, airfare is nil) and he was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport as well as representatives from the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Bermuda Airport Authority. 

CARIFESTA XV

The Hon Owen K Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended CARIFESTA XV in Bridgetown, Barbados to celebrate Bermuda's participation. The Bermuda Delegation was represented by 18 creatives across dance, music, visual arts, film and literature. The Minister was accompanied by technical officers from the Department of Culture. 

Bermuda Night at Golden Square Freedom Park featured performances by the delegation presenting the Bermuda story. 

 

 

Sports and Entertainment Tourism

The Hon Owen K. Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport had strategic discussions with an expert in the public private partners in sports and entertainment tourism. The outcomes of the meetings include improving visitor experiences by making events more sustainable and impactful. The Minister was accompanied by the Director of The Department of Sport and Recreation. 

Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) Minister's Meeting

The Hon Owen Darrell, JP MP, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport attended the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Ministers' meeting in New York, NY from 1 to 4 June 2025. The theme of this year's conference was Reimagining Caribbean Tourism: Research, Relevance, and the Road Ahead. Minister Darrell was accompanied by Permanent Secretary, Shivon Washington for this dynamic, three-day conference. 

CARIFTA 2025

Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, the Hon. Owen K. Darrell JP MP was invited to attend the 52nd CARIFTA Games which took place from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, 2025, in Trinidad and Tobago. Fifteen Bermuda athletes were invited to participate.  Minister Darrell expressed the pleasure of witnessing some up-and-coming local athletes participate as he eagerly cheered them on.

Seatrade Cruise Global 2025

The Hon Owen Darrell, Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, attended a cruise industry conference in Maimi Florida in a bid to boost cruise traffic to the island. 

Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 had more than 11, 000 attendees from 120 countries and allowed Bermuda to have conversations that shape the future of the cruise industry. The three-day summit is a chance to network and build meaningful connections with cruise lines.
