The Ministry of Public Works’ Department of Parks wishes to remind the public that illegal dumping is considered an offence under the Waste and Litter Control Act 1987 and its amendments.
This reminder comes after the Ministry recently discovered that members of the public are illegally dumping waste in our parks and beaches.
Persons who might have information to identify offenders committing the aforementioned acts are encouraged to contact the Department of Parks at 236-5902 or parksdept@gov.bm.
Polluters that commit an offence under the Waste and Litter Control Act 1987 and its amendments are subject to prosecution with a first summary conviction carrying up to a $5,000 fine, and up to a $10,000 fine for subsequent convictions.
In light of the current pandemic and government’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 which include using proper personal hygiene and sanitary practices, the Ministry of Public Works asks the public to responsibly dispose of your waste and be considerate of those in our community who work to keep Bermuda clean and beautiful.
