The Ministry of Economy and Labour is pleased to update the public on the Minister of Economy and Labour, the Hon. Jason Hayward, JP, MP's visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Minister Hayward has engaged in a series of strategic meetings to bolster Bermuda's international presence and foster economic cooperation with the UAE.
A key highlight was Minister Hayward's meeting with H.E. Abdulla Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, where he explored capacity building and leadership opportunities.
This in-person meeting with the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs was the second following Premier Burt's visit for COP28 and the ongoing discussions and work undertaken by Alexia Hefti, Special Advisor in the region.
Minister Hayward also spoke with H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation. In their discussion, H. E. Belhoul invited Minister Hayward to visit the Foundation's Museum of The Future to gain valuable insights into Dubai's strategies, processes and resources used to develop a thriving innovation hub.
Minister Hayward also engaged with Mr. Douraid Zaghouani, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Eric Milne, General Counsel, at the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai. They discussed the ICD’s significant activities and ambitions as it grows its US$320 billion assets under management, focusing on potential hospitality investments, underscoring mutual interests and exploring avenues for economic collaboration.
Minister Hayward also met with H.E. Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO of the Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI). The discussion focused on providing an overview of Bermuda's opportunities for engagement and investment in our economy, particularly in the hospitality sector.
Minister Hayward's visit underscores Bermuda's commitment to deepening bilateral relationships in the UAE and broader Gulf Region, driving forward our economy through new strategic partnerships and investment in Bermuda.
