Today the Minister for the Cabinet Office the Hon. Wayne Furbert JP MP announced that the General Post Office would be offering extended hours of operation over the Christmas Season this year on Friday December 13, 2019 and Friday December 20, 2019.
Minister Furbert said, "In order to facilitate those customers who are shopping later in the season and therefore wish to collect or send parcels and letters throughout December, the General Post Office will extend its hours until 6pm on both Fridays. This is part of our reenergized efforts to provide an enhanced customer service experience and accommodate Post Office customers during our busiest season.
"I would also like to remind customers about the Post Office's philatelic offerings which make lovely presents. These include coasters and tea towels which feature beautiful Bermuda landscapes and historical images as well as local flora and fauna."
The public may recall that, over the summer, the BPO introduced a new SWIFT Information Technology system which has allowed the postal service to modernize and streamline many of their service offerings. Additionally, the UPU recently awarded Bermuda with its Gold Star Award following a full review of the security systems of the BPO. Bermuda is the first country in the Caribbean region, and the second in the world, to be given this award.
