The Ministry of National Security is reminding residents that Bermuda continues to be in the midst of Hurricane Season. And as the public is aware, it has been a particularly active storm season in the last few weeks.
As a note, the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Gaston. As of this notice, the latest Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) reports has the storm currently located 965 nm to the ESE of Bermuda and moving NNW at 15knots.
It maintains a strong tropical storm strength at 55 knots. It is expected to re-develop into a hurricane in the next day. Currently, it is still forecast to re-curve North-East late Sunday into early Monday to the East of Bermuda. And its closest point of approach (CPA) is now 449nm to our East at 9am Monday morning.
Throughout the 2016 Hurricane Season, the Ministry of National Security has been advocating early preparation and awareness in the event of a storm. And over the course of this weekend the Ministry encourages residents to stay abreast of the latest updates on Tropical Storm Gaston by visiting the BWS website or by viewing Logic Ch. 4. or WOW Ch. 100.
