The public is invited to visit Fort St. Catherine this Saturday, 12 November, to experience first-hand a bit of Bermuda’s history. The fort is usually open weekdays only.
The Department of Parks team decided to open this Saturday to give children who would normally be in school and adults with work commitments the chance to explore the iconic fort in St. George’s.
“There has been interest, particularly from locals, in coming to the fort on the weekend. We are happy to offer this chance to learn about fortification and how Fort St. Catherine played a role in the island’s defense. It’s an interesting activity for any family or for history lovers, and a chance for locals to “know your history”, said Francine Trott, Heritage Officer at the Department of Parks.
There will be two tour guides available for parties of more than five, or people can take a self-guided tour. The cost is $7.00 adults, $5.00 for seniors 65 and over and $3.00 for children.
Fort St. Catherine will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm this Saturday only.
