Last week, teachers and school leaders from St George's and Sandys Parishes joined to continue their induction and onboarding into the School Transformation process.
Educators engaged in these interactive sessions, which focused on designing mini-experiments that have the potential to impact Bermuda's vision for learning significantly. These sessions follow the two-day workshop held in February for teachers and staff at East End Primary, St. George's Prep, St. David's Primary, West End, and Somerset Primary schools. The sessions encouraged mindsets of curiosity and creativity and managed risk-taking—key ingredients for meaningful and sustained education reform.
School teams identified practical, small-scale changes to test in their classrooms and schools. These changes, referred to as 'mini-experiments', are innovative teaching methods or classroom management strategies that aim to make learning more relevant and inclusive for Bermuda's children and young people.
These mini-experiments are just the beginning. The next workshop is scheduled for April 2025 as part of a continuous effort to strengthen Bermuda's education system by building the competence and confidence of those in our schools to engage in the School Transformation process.
Educators won't be alone on this journey. The Education Reform Unit (ERU) team will provide regular check-ins and opportunities to reflect on what's working and what can be improved.
