The Bermuda Customs Department marked International Customs Day 2025 with the successful hosting of its Annual Colin Smith Road Race in St. David’s on Tuesday, 28 January.
Observed globally on Sunday, 26 January, International Customs Day highlights the vital role of Customs agencies in border security and economic development.
The annual road race brought together past and present Customs officers, supporters, employees from other Government departments and the broader community in a spirited display of camaraderie and fitness.
Collector of Customs Lucinda Pearman, reflected on the event’s significance: “The Customs Department is at the forefront of protecting Bermuda’s borders while facilitating trade and economic growth.
This race is a cherished tradition that strengthens our team spirit and reminds us of the dedication and resilience required in our service to the Island.”
Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Sen. The Hon. Kim Wilkerson, JP, also commended the Customs Department, stating: "Customs officers are the unsung guardians of Bermuda’s borders, ensuring the safety and integrity of our island’s trade.
“Celebrating their hard work is always a pleasure; this event is a fitting way to highlight their commitment and teamwork.”
