2016 Edition of Bermuda Job Market Employment Briefs

Today the Department of Statistics released the 2016 edition of the Bermuda Job Market Employment Briefs, highlighting the main findings of the 2015 Annual Employment Survey.

This brief provides a broad count of all jobs in the Bermuda labour market by selected demographics, industrial and occupational groups. It examines employment changes between the years 2014 and 2015.

The publication shows that total jobs in the economy fell fractionally from 33,475 in 2014 to 33,319 in 2015. The overall decline reflected primarily the loss of 257 positions held by Bermudians in 2014 and a partially offsetting increase in employment for other Non-Bermudians of 105 jobs.

The Financial Intermediation sector recorded increased employment to the tune of 116 posts.  The median gross annual income for employees who worked in establishments with ten or more employees fell by $240 from $63,897 to $63,657.
